ABGO was established to provide a forum for members to develop their business activities, thereby promoting trade, cultural and business relationships between Australia and the Sultanate of Oman. ABGO promotes member networking and contact with Omani businesses and Government offices, as well as between the Australian business community in Oman. The group provides a link between the Australian business community in Oman and visiting Australian officials and trade delegations/missions and is also a source of informal information and advice for Australian businesses wishing to do business in Oman.
AIMS
The aim of ABGO is to bring together Australians and Australian companies engaged in business activities in Oman and connect them with their Omani counterparts. In so doing, ABGO seeks to contribute to the promotion of increased trade and investment between Australia and the Sultanate of Oman.
ABGO works closely with the Australian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the various State Government Offices in the GCC and visiting Australian officials and trade delegations.
Since inception, the ABGO Executive Committee has worked hard to establish the Group. We have held numerous events, hosted esteemed guests including the Australian Governor General and the Victorian Governor, welcomed corporate members and attracted a growing number of individual members.
ABGO PLANS
For 2024
Mac Thomson
Chair
Connecting Australian and Omani businesses. Creating a knowledge base for business opportunities. Strengthening trade and diplomatic relations between Australia and the Sultanate of Oman. These will be our major focal points for 2024.
With its commercial focus ABGO Connect which has been running since 2021 brings Australian and Omani businesses together in a simple and effective process.
This is a results-driven initiative and ABGO encourages interested businesses to join with similar minded companies to explore new opportunities that are mutually rewarding. The response from participating companies has been positive and encouraging.
We will continue to provide value to our members. With the ongoing involvement of our sponsors, Worley, Addleshaw Goddard, Kennedys, TAFE Queensland and the Government of Western Australia, ABGO will continue to identify ways in which all members and associated companies can gain a competitive edge in a changing world.
With the ongoing support of the Australian Embassy we will continue to offer complimentary membership to Omani Alumni who have studied in Australia. 2024 will hold a renewed outlook for the business group.
We are excited to share our new initiatives with our members through ABGO Connect and many of our other functions. Oman is an ideal gateway to do business in the GCC and the broader region. As a networking group ABGO aims to continuously business-match Omanis and Australians to find the most suitable opportunities.
We look forward to welcoming you to the group and growing in 2024.
